Come enjoy a day with colleagues from the Birmingham area and beyond. Arrive at edcamp Birmingham with an idea for a session that you would like to lead, or with the anticipation of a full day of learning.

For those of you who have never gone to an edcamp before, please make a note of the unusual part of the morning where we will build the schedule. Edcamp doesn’t believe in paying fancy people to come and talk at you about teaching! At an edcamp, the people attending – the participants - facilitate sessions on teaching and learning! So edcamp Birmingham won’t succeed without participants leading a session of some kind! What type of session might you lead? edcamp Birmingham should be a great day of learning! Even if you don’t feel like facilitating a session, please come ready to share ideas.
  • Discussions on issues in education
  • Share a model lesson or unit
  • Conduct an inquiry session into a new tool
  • Share something you’re passionate about
  • Discuss new things you’d like to learn more about
  • Share activities you’re looking to improve
  • Sessions might explore a technology tool, a discussion about best practices, or a collaborative presentation with multiple facilitators.
  • Anything else you can think of that will get other interested teachers to come and share with you!

During the first hour (8:00-9:00), you will have time to meet other teachers over coffee. There will be an empty session board where you can post session titles. Sessions begin at 9:10 am. See the complete schedule here.

Over the course of the day, you will have the opportunity to attend up to six sessions. The rule of the unconference is to “vote with your feet”. If a session doesn’t meet your needs, simply get up and move on to another room!
